Wellness Week at the Willows

The Willows Park Preserve invites you to Wellness Week at the Willows! 

Sunday, April 6th – Wellness Walk at the Willows

12:00pm – Engage with Health and Wellness organizations and receive free resources. Main Line Health will be giving Blood Pressure Screenings to people 18 and older.

1:30pm – Wellness Walk – Fun for all ages! Enjoy a 2-mile (a little bit under) walk through the beautiful Willows Park. There will be a shorter walk around the pond for families with younger children. The walk will begin and end in the Courtyard outside the Mansion. When you return from the walk, there will be more opportunities to engage with Health and Wellness organizations.

Cost is $20 per person or $40 for family or friend groups up to 5 people. You can register for the walk using this LINK HERE! Or you can mail a check made out to Willows Park Preserve or pay via Venmo at: willowspark-preserve

Monday, April 7th to Wednesday April 9th – Health and Wellness Classes throughout the day and evening. These are FREE classes, but registration is required. See the Full Schedule below. To register for classes, please click HERE!

Thursday, April 10th – Wellness Luncheon. If you are interested in inviting your friends to lunch at the Willows Mansion, please contact us! There will be a cooking demonstration and vendors.

Monday, April 7th to Wednesday, April 8th

Monday, April 7

9:30am – Safer Steps (Fall Prevention) with Kara Chivalette, MPH, CTTS-M

Participants will learn how to identify controllable risk factors, make changes to reduce falls at home, add a few basic exercises to daily routines which support flexibility and set goals for increasing activity.

10:30am – Body Weight Boot Camp with AFC Fitness Radnor

Come wor on your wellness with our trainer, Christian! Get ready for a fun-filled 45 minutes of bodyweight circuits that will be sure to get your heart rate up. Show up, work hard and get your sweat on! 

12:00pm –Slow Flow Yoga with Liz Seaden from Verge Yoga Center

Slow Flow is a grounding and intentional practice that blends gentle movement with deep breath awareness. Slower than a typical flow class, this class encourages presence and mindfulness, allowing you to move with purpose, find stability in each posture, and cultivate a deep sense of inner calm. Perfect for those looking to reset, refocus, and reconnect. Liz Seaden is a Facilitator for the Verge Yoga Teacher Training Program and leads a variety of weekly classes at the studio.

1:00pm – Navigating Natural Medicine with Dr. Lynn Feinmann

Explore naturopathic approaches to health. Dr. Lynn has over 40 years of experience and has a private Naturopathic Health practice. Learn founding principles, practical approaches to integrate healing into your life. You will also receive a take away of tools to guide you on your wellness journey. 

Tuesday, April 8

9:30am – Five Exercises for Life with Dr. Karin Simounian from Westside Wellness 

With so much information available, it can feel overwhelming to know where to start when it comes to healthy movement and longevity.  Dr. Karin Simounian will review and demonstrate her 5 top exercises to keep your body moving and to promote a healthy lifestyle.  Mobility, stability and agility need not be too complicated, sometimes we can get back to the basics to see consistent results!   

10:30am – Stress Management with Jessica Hallahan, MPH from Journey to Yourself

Jessica will share her personal journey from burnout to balance. In this workshop, you’ll learn how stress can take over – and how you can take it back. Jessica will guide you through practical strategies for managing stress, including healthy communication, environment design, mindfulness, self-care, and acceptance. You’ll discover simple yet effective habits to help you feel more centered, energized, and resilient. Leave with tools you can apply right away to reduce stress and reclaim your well being. Ready to feel empowered and less overwhelmed? Let’s get started! 

12:00pm – We are Made for Relationships with Dr. Sara Green, LSW, PHD and Cara Dixon, LPC, NCC from Growth Minded

This workshop explores the vital connection between attachment and attunement, guiding participants to build a stronger, more compassionate relationship with themselves and with others. Through reflective exercises and insightful discussions, attendees will learn how early attachment experiences shape self-awareness and extend into our adult connections. By fostering emotional attunement, participants will gain tools to nurture self-compassion, improve mental well-being, and cultivate healthy relationships. 

1:00pm – Heart Health and Prevention with Abby Riley, RN, BSN from Main Line Health

Learn about the different risk factors for heart disease and the power of prevention!

6:00pm – Teen Yoga with Kate Berry from Verge Yoga Center

Teen Yoga is designed specifically for ages 10 – 18 years. Class begins with grounding/centering exercises and moves into a simple standing practice. Following the standing practice, students will move into some gentle stretching/strengthening floor exercises and end with an extended savasana (complete relaxation). This is a truly inclusive class, appropriate for all genders and all levels of fitness. 

7:00pm – Unlocking Your Potential: Keys to Developing the Complete Athlete with Meghan Johnson, MA, LAPC, LAT, ATC, NCC and Lauren Beckley, M.S. CSCS, NSCA-CPT, PN1 from Agnes Irwin School  

Hear from a panel of coaches and how they support their students’ overall well-being. From the mental part of the game to appropriate conditioning to nutrition. This class is for student athletes and parents! 

Wednesday, April 9

9:30am  – Boosting Energy through Nutrition with Carolyn Farhy, MS, RDN, LDN from Main Line Health 

Participants will:  develop long lasting nutrition goals to boost energy, learn how to increase plant-based foods into your meals and snacks, discuss ways to incorporate healthy fats while decreasing saturated fats, consider immune boosting flavors to your foods and limit sodium intake.

10:30am –– Oxidative Stress & Inflammation. The cause of most if not all Chronic Disease and how to stop it with Joanna M. Carmichael, PhD, RN, BSN

Learn about the theories of aging, the pharmaceutical connection and why they don’t want you to heal naturally. The field of nutrigenomics has the answers where genes can be flipped on and off for optimal health and healing and patients can finally get off the pharmaceutical merry-go-round.

12:00pm – Eating for Health: The Role of Nutrition in Cancer Defense with Briana Walters, MS, RD, LDN from Main Line Health

A brief overview is as follows: Dietary patterns, physical activity, and weight management play a role in cancer prevention. Individuals with cancer can bolster their fight by maintaining their nutrition goals as able. The purpose of this discussion is to review basic nutrition concepts that can reduce cancer risk as well as cancer burden.

1:00pm – Chair Yoga with Carole McKeon from Verge Yoga Center

Chair Yoga is truly an all levels class, designed for all ages and all stages of life. No experience necessary! Class incorporates both seated and standing stretching and includes a bit of strength training and balance conditioning as well. Carole McKeon is the owner of Verge Yoga in Wayne and teaches a variety of weekly classes. Outside of Verge, Carole works with multiple high school sports teams in the area, incorporating yoga into their training schedules.

6:00pm – Less Stress, More Energy with Jood Thompson

Join Jood for a Qi Gong class at the Willows. Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice developed over 4,000 years ago that harmonizes body, mind and spirit and can be practiced by everyone. Qi Gong exercises create strength, flexibility and resilience in the body, a clear mind and an open heart.

7:00pm – Healthy Habits for Busy Lives: Simple Strategies for Lasting Change with Julie M.  Palumbo CEO and Founder of Best Whole Self

In this interactive 45-minute session, discover practical and science-backed strategies to create and sustain healthy habits—even with a packed schedule. Learn how small, consistent changes can lead to big results, and walk away with actionable tips to improve your energy, focus, and overall well-being without adding stress to your day.
